Kingdom Economy in Your Family – Part 1

“…all things were created through him and for him.” – Colossians 1:16 (ESV)

God is the Source; your home is a channel!

God designed families to function in His kingdom economy — a flow of trust, stewardship, and generous giving that draws from an unlimited Source. Colossians 1:16 affirms that everything exists through Christ and for Christ; therefore, every salary, skill, opportunity, and resource entrusted to your household ultimately belongs to Him. We are stewards, not owners.

I once attended a workshop where the facilitator posed a simple yet unsettling question: “Who owns the title deed to your assets?” To my surprise, many believers hesitated, including me. That moment exposed a deeper issue: although we love God, we often struggle to shift from a worldly view of ownership to a Kingdom view of stewardship.

Today, God desires to teach our families a new economic blueprint — one rooted not in fear, scarcity, or self‑reliance but in divine partnership. Scripture reminds us that He enriches us so that we can be generous, because generosity is not optional; it is a ministry entrusted to every believer (2nd Corinthians 9:11).

In God’s kingdom, each family functions like a miniature ministry of finance. Through the work of our hands — whether entrepreneurship, investments, salaried careers, or the giving of time and expertise — we generate resources that God intends for His purposes. Just as earthly governments mobilise revenue to serve society, kingdom stewards return resources to bless others.

When we embrace this kingdom economic identity, we stop seeing ourselves merely as consumers or earners. Instead, we understand that we are trusted channels, appointed by God to move resources where He desires and meet needs that matter to Him.

And because the kingdom economy is rooted in trust, Jesus calls us away from anxiety about provision. Matthew 6:25-34 (AMP) urges us to aim at and strive after His kingdom and rely on the Father’s care. As we align our hearts, each family member can experience the joy of God’s promise: “You’ll be voted, “Happiest Nation.” (Malachi 3:12 – MSG).

Prayer

Dear God, help us to understand our ministry of giving (2nd Corinthians 9:11), Your equation of abundance (Malachi 3:10-12), and transform our poverty mindset into one of blessing others (Acts 20:35). This I pray, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
